Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the leading charitable funder and advocate of Type 1 diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. JDRF has brought the long struggle against diabetes and its complications to a turning point. Now people suffering from diabetes are beginning to see their hopes for a cure grow close to reality. More than 30 years of funding and research worldwide has culminated in a program to develop multiple therapies, each with the potential to become a cure. But before scientists can step forward to complete this life-saving work, we must first close the critical gaps in research funding that would otherwise slow the pace of progress.
JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most major scientific breakthroughs in Type 1 research to date. In fact, JDRF funds a major portion of all Type 1 diabetes research worldwide, more than any other nongovernmental source of funding. Of JDRF Canada’s expenditures 80 percent of every dollar donated directly supports research and research-related education. Because of its unwavering focus on its mission to find a cure, JDRF annually receives top rankings from independent sources that rate charitable giving. |

Variety - The Children's Charity is a registered charitable society with a mission to raise funds and distribute grants throughout British Columbia to inspire hope, enrich lives, and build a better future for children who have special needs. Since 1965, Variety has raised over $140 million, providing much-needed funding to children and organizations. Every year, Variety receives over 1,000 applications from individual families with children who have special needs. Variety is the leading children's charity in B.C. for issuing such grants and over 40 per cent of grant disbursements are given to individual families, the other 60 per cent are given to organizations that help children and families. Variety does not receive government funding and relies solely on donations from individuals and corporations. With some of the lowest administration rates amongst charitable organizations, almost 90 cents of every dollar goes directly to the people Variety helps...the people that you help…children who have special needs! |
