I love you product ORGANIC CHESTNUTS

  2. Amazing taste! How do you process these delicious chestnuts? They say on the package just orangic chestnuts but there must be some honey or some kind to make them taste so sweet?

    • Hi Amanda,

Our organic chestnuts are cooked through a steaming process. We don’t add anything to them, the sweet taste is a natural flavour of the chestnuts!

      • Oh great! That’s my question as well. They are so sweet and delicious! Are they steamed with the shell?

Thank you for this wonderful product.

          • An additional question, is there any sugar or any sweetener added to the water or any of the steaming process?

            Thank you

          • Hi Annemarie,

There is no sugar added to the process of making these chestnuts. They are simply roasted, peeled and cleaned.
            Have a great day!

      • RE: DanDPak Organic Chestnuts
As I talked too a Produce Manager at a store Safeway/Sobeys. Since Sobeys has taken over many things have been discontinued, and they said that this product has been discontinued, is this true ? if not why can’t you get Safeway/Sobeys to carry this product again !!

  4. Hello,

Just tried your CCOF chestnuts and they are great.

Question: Since the product is from China, how does a California company certify it as organic?

    • Hi Francis,

CCOF is an internationally recognized organization that grants organic certification to products around the world. Products need to pass a strict quality control standard, but do not need to be grown in America to be CCOF certified.

      Have a nice day,

      Ian Cheng. Marketing

  6. Hey! I have hard time trying to find this product in Coquitlam, BC. Can you please let me know where can buy this product.

      • Hi:
Thank you for this information. I live in Maple Ridge, BC, about 25 mins to T&T in Coquitlam but that is a small distance to travel for this oh, so lovely, product. It is now 2016 and almost Christmas and I sincerely hope that T&T continues to carry them since they have now sold out to Loblaws/Superstore/Sobey’s. I will check ASAP this coming week. They will make my Xmas magical.

        • Hi Pat!

Yes T&T should still carry this product! Other stores in Coquitlam that carry this product are H-Mart and Langley Farm Market stores. I would also suggest requesting your local grocer in Maple Ridge that carries Dan-D-Pak products to bring in this product so you can purchase it from them.

Very glad to hear you enjoy our products and hope you have a merry christmas!

  7. Hello…would really love to know all the places that these delicious chestnuts are available in Victoria, BC please :)

    • Hi Theresa,

      Thanks for your interest.

  11. I checked the Carbs they are 43.3 grams per package and Calories are 200grams per package…

That’s a lot of Carbohydrates for a snack..
My question is: are they good Carbs or bad ones?

I am on Atkins diet, but I love these nuts and eat them as my dinner or lunch along with some fresh fruits and a glass of Goat milk.

    Please let me know….

    Thank you,

    • Hi Aleesa,

Chestnuts are extremely healthy and good for the body. They are low in calories, a great source of dietary fiber and helps with lowering cholesterol.
Chestnuts do naturally have some sugars in it so it is best to eat it in moderation.
These organic nuts are appropriate to eat on your Atkins diet.

      Hope that helps!

  13. Hi,

Do you have any info on heavy metals content for the organic chestnuts? like cadmium, lead, mercury, etc?

    • Hi Kalen,

This particular T&T location does not carry our chestnuts. Please look for this item at the following stores:
      – FreshCo at Major Mackenzie and Leslie
      – T&T Supermarket at Promenade Mall

      Good luck with the hunt!

  14. Hi – I absolutely love this product and tried one bought by my friends. Where can I find this product in downtown Toronto, ON, Canada?
    Thank you!

  15. Please explain how do you preserve freshness of your organic chestnuts. I have purchased a package that does not look oxygen free. I wonder how can it keep fresh for a year. Also I wonder if it contains BHA and BHT.
    Appreciate your response
    Thank you.

    • Hi Kathy,

Our organic chestnuts, are produced by a complex process which includes peeling, cleaning, freezing, metal detecting, filling nitrogen and sealing-high temperature sterilizing. The product is flushed with nitrogen gas before sealing the aluminum foil bag to keep freshness in without adding antioxidant. The product is then processed with high temperature like a canned food. The commercial sterilization is what gives the product a longer shelf life.

I hope this gives you a little bit more insight into the processing method. Thank you for writing us.

  16. I bought this product at Loblaws in downtown Toronto. I would like to use them in a Martha Stewart recipe that calls for peeled roasted chestnuts.

I can’t tell from the packing if these chestnuts have been roasted or boiled – or both?

Can I use them as they are packaged in a recipe calling for roasted chestnuts or do I have to do something first?

I hope you can answer before Christmas – I want to serve this dessert on Christmas day.

    Thank you so much!

    • Hi Scott,

I’m happy to hear you’re trying some of Martha Stewart’s recipes. Our chestnuts were previously steamed.
You may use our chestnuts (which are ready to be eaten out of the package), and roast them with a little olive oil to make them taste closer to what Martha had in mind. I hope your dessert turns out delicious!

      Merry Christmas!
      Celia Chung

  17. I love your chestnuts, and I think I’ve finally found a healthy snack that is good for me while pregnant. However, can you please explain one thing to me? Chestnuts are supposed to contain vitamin C aren’t they? But your nutrition facts show that there is 0 vitamin C. How can this be?

  18. where can I buy these online? I’m stuck in hospital and cannot buy fresh honey-roasted chestnuts like I used to, which were available seasonaly at our Japan town here in san francisco.

    • Hi there!

Sorry! Unfortunately we do not sell directly to consumers. In the near future we will hopefully begin working with Amazon which will allow customers to order products directly.

Thank you for your continued interest in our products!

    • Hi Robbie

So it looks like there are no stores that carry this product. I would suggest requesting your local grocery store that carries Dan-D-Pak products to bring in this item for you. Quality Greens, Old Town Farm Market, and The Market At Big White may be able to help you.

Thanks for your continued interest in Dan-D-Pak products!

  19. Hi

My son is stationed at camp Borden in Ontario is there any place close to him that sells the chestnuts? Or even any store in Toronto?

Thank you we just love them

    • Hi Charlie

Unfortunately, there aren’t any stores in Port Moody that seem to carry this product. I would suggest requesting your local store in Port Moody that carries Dan-D-Pak products to bring in this item for you. However, here is a list of stores in Coquitlam that carry this product.

H-Mart on 329 North Road, Langley Farm Market on 26 Fawcett Road, and Save On Foods on 2991 Lougheed Highway should all carry this product.

Thanks for your continued interest in Dan-D-Pak products!

    • Hi Chris

Dan-D-Pak Chestnuts are available at New Apple Farm on 2856 W. Broadway, Kim’s Mart on 523 E. Broadway, and Sunshine Market on 3135 Oak Street. Thanks for your continued interest in Dan-D-Pak products!

  20. Hi,

I have bought your product for a 2nd time and love them as a snack. They were dry the first time. This time them had some moisture in the bag and were slightly sticky. Is that normal?

    • Hi Stephanie

You can always heat the chestnuts up in the oven but they do come already fully cooked and ready to eat straight out of the bag.

      Dan-D-Pak Team.

  21. I live just up the road from you in Barrie. Do any stores in Barrie carry these? If not Barrie, maybe Aurora or Newmarket?

    • Hi there

Unfortunately we only offer these products in 100g bags. Thanks for your continued interest in Dan-D-Pak products!
